Hi everyone, just become a member, and looking forward to joining you at Cafe Saxophone.
I live and work in England. I have been playing for 3 1/2 years,(still not very good) my job moves me around and I don't have a regular 9-5 work pattern. Finding a tutor has been impossible, so I am self taught. I have had lots of difficulties, quite a few answers have been provided by yourselves via an internet search. I now have 3 Alto and a tenor sax. One is of course a Yanigasawa 901A.

Welcome to the caff©, Nine, if I may be so familiar.

You job sounds similar to the Queen's.

ENJOY!™

Welcome to the cafe and Happy New Year:)

Hello and welcome from me too.

We do need more info though; musical likes and dislikes, passwords and pin numbers will do!

Andy

Welcome to the cafe :D

Plenty of good advice on here (occasionally) ;}

Hi 901A Welcome to the cafe, as you say,

Not working 9 to 5 ,what a way make a livin'
Barely gettin' by, it's all takin' and no givin'
They just use your mind and they never give you credit
It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it

Have fun Regds I believe Dolly Partin has never had cosmetic surgery! N.

Just work for an airline that specialises in short term contracts for other airlines. Sounds romantic, but it can be a pain in the not so royal butt.

Hi Andy,
One of my friends was born and bred in Ilkley, when Harry Ramsdens was just a green shed on the side of the road. You could also drive up to the Cow and Calf for a beer and not worry about breathalisers.

My musical likes are mainly from the 60's to the 80's with a special affinity to Madness, thats why I bought a tenor. But my main inspiration was from Hazel O'connor Will You. Thats what started me off with the Sax. Not quite discovered Jazz yet.

Hi Jeanette. Happy New Year to you thank you for the welcome. When I am at home I live just outside Glossop.

Hi navarro, thank you for the welcome. Dolly certainly got the lyrics right. Is it true Cher never had cosmetic surgery either?

I can concur about the non glamour of a variable work schedule. My job requires me to pop off to places most foreign - I spent 6 mths in Bangalore and have been to China, brazil etc etc. It sounds fun but in reality it is a tedius line of anonymous hotel rooms and airline exec lounges. Got to Platinum status with Emirates in 3 months!

I am a Supplier quality engineer for a well known US engineering company (one of the biggest / oldest in the world).

While I'm at work, we are mainly on standby and have to be at the airport within 30 mins of the phone call to go anywhere! We also have a contract in the UAE, we rotate through there, being away for 3 weeks at a time in a hotel. This I find difficult to practice in but I have a cheep alto that travels with me. I recently bought a Sax Silencer, which plugs into the mouthpiece, just to keep the emboucher going. I'm going back the end of Feb and flying with Emirates from Manchester to Dubai.

You may be piloting the plane I'm travelling on in May.
Manchester-Dubai (then Sydney). If I hear the dulcet tones of a cheap Alto coming from the flight deck I'll know it's you.

Hi 9, welcome. I know Glossop from my banding days, always did the Whit Friday contests around there.

Hi 901
Welcome
Well us aussie`s shorten all names to nick names , so stuff the A
now you sound like a secret agent
do you work for kaos or control
sounds like kaos to me
If you can find time to practice with youre crazy schedule youre doing great.
Look forward to hearing more about you
Im into slow smooth jazz at the moment mostly because I cant play fast music yet.
regards
Allansto

Welcome and stay with it! I have a traveling job which makes it impossible to commit to a regular band, but I keep in practice by going to jams and such. Keeps my sanity on the proper side of the ledger.....
