Key Cleaning

Over time, the nickel plating on the keys of my Yamaha YAS- has worn down, gotten a sort of white ghosting, and become pitted in a process I'm guessing is related to oxidation. I'm guessing nothing can be done for the pitting, but is there anything I could do to restore some of the original shine to the keys beyond wiping them with a polishing cloth?

the keys can be buffed or ragged with tripoli - but in either case you will really need to remove the pads.

I have had success with clarinet keys by rubbing down with Crocus paper - like emery paper but it impegnated with jewellers rouge.

0000 gauge wire wool works too.
