Just taking a look on Gumtree, to see if there was anything of interest,a I came across a Karl Mayer sax in Corby.
The guy wants a grand a little optimistic one feels!

But Karl Mayer was a second line of Selmer.... So the no name must justify the price.

But I agree with you.

It was sold by Selmer London, which was not exactly the same, also it was marketed as a student ,intermediate horn,
Having said that I have one in The cupboard, maybe I should dig it out.

I thought they were made in East Germany like other Mouthpiece maker labelled horns (Berg larsen for one)

I took my Orsi Beacon (or La Monte) to Paul Carrington (sax tech) today and he said "That's identical to my Karl Meyer".
He thought his was American made but the Beacon is certainly an Orsi stencil, despite the bell engraving which reads "Beacon. Boston. Mass."
Here's one that's been for sale for months: http://webshop.cashconverters.co.uk/auction-item/597334/vintage-saxophone
I thought about offering £100 but then thought that too much!

I have had a few, most were Orsi, one I believe was B&M aka Champion type and one was a Borgani stencil with the love heart key guards. They are identical to the Pennsylvania's of the same era.

B&M Champion to Borgani - talk about Extremes !
