Having to shave the outside of my nose was an unexpected part of geriatric personal grooming.

I really like that. My younger daughter went through a false eyelash thing a couple of years back. I happened to find one of those interior letter-box draught-excluder things in a skip (the ones with two brush seals which anyone who had a paper round in 80s UK might remember) and I gave it to her, saying she could repurpose it. She didn't laugh then, or any other time I referred to her draught excluders.
I have also struggled with barbers until I finally, at a ripe old age, found the ideal. Kurdish barber in Southampton that does £8 haircuts.I think I'd quite like a haircut in the barber's, but along with conquering personal style inertia I am faced with the same embarrassing dilemma I struggle with in a butcher's shop. 'What can I get you sir?'. 'Well, err, I'd like some meat, please'.
Only if you’re playing a Swinette ?If I pluck there a good chance of producing a squeal 😳

High School graduation (1990) I had a respectable mullet. It's actually longer now than it was then...just without the mullet.
