OK ... consensus seems to be that putting a mic directly above or in to (but not too far in to) the bell ... will exaggerate the low end notes at the expense of high end notes balance. So ... what if (say) three or four miniature mics were to be mounted inside the pipe (equidistantly) from bell position to around the area of the crook join, chained together with a single cable exiting the bell then going into a TX device or on-wired directly to an amp. Anyone want to hazard a guess what the result might be!?! I'll probably try it as I have 3 or 4 tiny mics somewhere ... once I've found them! I'm mainly interested in getting the 'breathy' sound that goes with the note's tone ... and that I guess comes from nearer the mp end of things.
