Nice. In 2020 for a jazz lab class, I bungeed my 1980's LeBlanc 7133T Vito (Jupiter JTS-689) tenor to the pillion seat of my 2001 Kawasaki ZG1200 Voyager XII. Class was 22 miles away at Eastern New Mexico University, Portales. It was a fun class.
Ooohhh, that made me laugh. Enough to stage this (OK, my bike was out, and I only had to spend 10 minutes extricating the bari case from where it rots in the corner...). Wife (whose head appears, Chad like, in photo 2) thinks staging requires more litter and graffitti 🙂 But now I look at it...this is not out of the question, with some reflective tape applied to each end...
HMS Harley. Waiting for the Campagne to arrive, to be launched. God bless all who sail in her. 😉
Right political regime, but wrong country. Ural 650 - this one retains its normal engine. I am meant to be going to a club rally this weekend coming, and am tentatively seeing if I can make it break down beforehand. With all respect to @Detroit Dave , this may be as much as a 130 mile round trip! I won't be taking a saxophone, but will make the weight up in tools and spares 🙂@mark_addy Jawa 350 ?
Nice. Here in US, the latest offering has their 800 cc boxer engine. One overall needs to maintain at least a 65 mph speed in these rural 2 lane road parts, so more cc's help. A motorcycle forum that I used to be active in no longer on-line had a Ural forum within it. I thought it interesting all the neat things these riders did in US, spoke of the strengths and weaknesses, etc.Ural 650 - this one retains its normal engine. I’ve been following the brand for 28 years. They’ve made a lot of improvements. The 650cc engine was replaced by a 750cc in 2002. It’s been a dependable workhorse. 2014 EFI was added along with brembo disc brakes x 3. The production facilities relocated in mid 2022.Right political regime, but wrong country. My (RH) chair is on my diesel bike at the mo, but needs to go back on the 650 so I can work on the former, over winter. Then I won't be tempted to tie the bari on as in the photo I posted somewhere above. Running out of dry, light evenings now, and no garage here.I’ve been following the brand for 28 years. There’s a small amount that show up on offer of auctions.
This outfit will carry a Bari, tenor, alto and a passenger.![]()

Sounds interesting. What is it?my diesel bike
Over here, you'd be considered a genuine "shade tree mechanic". 😉Running out of dry, light evenings now, and no garage here.
A 3-cyl Daihatsu Charade diesel engine coupled to a Ural 650 everything else (I used the bike flywheel, gearbox etc). I copied a German bloke, who helped me out a bit with this and that by email. Cylinder heads are fragile - but I like it well enough to perhaps spend real money getting a head welded, skimmed, new seats and all that. Maybe.Sounds interesting. What is it?
Your description sounds like a fascinating custom motorcycle project, adapting a car engine to a motorcycle chassis. I had to look up the Charade because of its brief marketing in US.A 3-cyl Daihatsu Charade diesel engine coupled to a Ural 650 everything else (I used the bike flywheel, gearbox etc). A different smelling Bari with low D issues.Sounds interesting. What is it?
Sorry to quote myself - but a chance conversation at the (middle of nowhere in Yorkshire dales) bike rally about Clint Eastwood which included a guy I know only as 'Jez' - I've met him there and only there, on and off, for maybe 20 years - led to the film 'Bird', which revealed J to be a sax and bass player, who nailed his convictions to the mast with great rapidity regarding tritone substitutions and his preference for Link HR mouthpieces. This is shameful, but I even called his bluff as we staggered home rather pissed from the pub (think pich black cobbled village, amazing night sky, 20 people live there amongst 30 holiday homes) to the tents by scat singing 'all the things you are', and he named-that-tune faultlessly. That was one of the wierdest social moments I can recall 🙂 Jez rides a 60s (?) Dnepr (Kyiv) sidevalve outfit. If you're from Leeds, you need to contact me and persuade him (I can find him on FB) to join your band and take up playing again.I am meant to be going to a club rally this weekend coming, and am tentatively seeing if I can make it break down beforehand. Well, flipping heck 🙂@mark_addy it wouldn't be jezz Watson by any chance? https://cafesaxophone.com/members/jez-watson.4746/
Though I believe he rode a Royal Enfield at one time.
