@DavidUK is this a reference 25 or similar? distributor possibly Rose Morris or one of those, althought the pinkie table looks like @Ads has shown, the octave key is odd, with this in mind I thought of the Ref or Super ref?

Yayy! 😀 The reason i thought this is i actually have a gold plated Ref 25 trumpet, however, this is almost certainly a Wunderlich Exacta stencil I believe it is called and imported by one of the old distributors- I can't think of the name though Chas E Foote also imported the same instruments.

The unfortunate problem is like @milandro says, they were imported from all over europe, I would like to see more photos when it arrives- or has it ?, is that bell flange engraved? you know some of the Rene Geunot? have the same pinkie table though I have yet to see one with a pearl.

I would love to get to the bottom of who they imported did import/stencil from.

No, me neither, I have looked at a lot in the last 24hrs, like the trumpet that is not identical to the Exacta, but very similar so I wondered if Chas actually had them made especially for his outlet, like a special consignment?

I just don't know how you find them, I search Europe and the US quite regularly.

I don't mind spending a couple of hundred here and there on "curios". Seller is a nice guy, and knows the ownership history, last 60 years in his family, which always helps!

Does look Cz ish, but not right. Interesting that none of the pearls has screws, which was normal. I've seen pics of Kohlert saxes like that. But this doesn't look like Kohlert.

I didn’t understand this was a quiz with a prize.

There are several brands of French saxophones (not only SML) with rolled toneholes . Lyrist, for instance, came with both straight and rolled toneholes, but again, this doesn’t look like any French sax that I know.

As usual when it comes to French saxophones the - Association of Musical Wind Instruments Collectors or Association des Collectionneurs d'Instruments de Musique à Vent (A.C.I.M.V) is the place to be.

They know more about these than anyone else in the world.

They can probably confirm that this is or not (as I keep thinking) a French made instrument.

If the hypothesis of this being a Parisian made ( this is the weirdest detail, if it said only Paris it wouldn’t mean it was made there!) that one should think about Cabart but this looks nothing like any Cabart! Cantator was another minute maker of Paris and he put mother of peal everywhere but looked nothing like this !

Another thing is the microtuner and the color of the neck.
French saxophones did have microtuners but it is not an usual feature, more common in German or Bohemian saxophones.

This neck might have been polished or replated because it shows a different hue the rest of the saxophone.

This could be a Hüttl... or not!

Footes have replied they have no information.

Have you noticed the crenellations around the bow joins?...

Crene!!! engraved design 🙂 it shall be great to see if Helen finds anything out, it is unusual but does need some work as they all do, I noticed that the front F key lifter is also missing.. that is the one that is always forgotten as needs to go on first but not so difficult to do.

I searched some more and could not find anything like it and I have had some pretty unusual horns, there is always another that turns up and pickles me!😀

Well spotted Melissa. What else is missing I wonder? I guess the rod could have worked loose and the front F bridge dropped out. Any hope it's in the case?.... don't be daft!! 🙁

As far as I am aware, if that is not put on first and is forgotten, once the sax is complete, you need to take it all apart again to fit it in! As such, many were discarded on the oldies. I believe Griff could sort this out, I am just sure of it?!! @griff136 what do you think?

...well, not all of it apart. I'm in touch with Griff but sending the sax there and back may make it uneconomical. Paul Carrington made a key for my Pan Am so may be a more local solution?
Makes me nervous the seller (not a player) might miss other issues too. Speaking to him tonight...
