LeBlanc Rationale Alto Sax

The pics are not very good but will give you an idea the keywork which is nickel silver plated not obvious in the pics. The F# key is very unusual operated with ring finger or little finger of the left hand. The G# mechanism is quite complex. There is an extra D# key operated by lifting the 3rd finger of the right hand making this trill very easy. While fingering A or B with the left hand closing one or any of RH F,E or D will lower the pitch by a semitone ie Bb and Ab. Just holding down RH F,E or D or any combination will play C2. The keywork is very precise and regulation adjusted by screws and lock nuts. The pads, those that I have replaced, have not had any shellac or glue merely held in by the screwed resonator.
This was the first proper sax I owned after a TJ Artemis and is by far the easiest blowing best intonation on any sax that I have owned.
Regards Al

Thanks very much Al...
It's going to take a few 're reads to get my head around the nuances but it looks great and if it plays that well has got to be a good choice.
They have always interested me : I know a guy in Holland..a fabulous player who swears by his Rationale tenor ; says he'll never go back to playing " traditional " horns .
I seem to remember it gets a little complicated in that there are Rationale; semi Rationale and possibly more variants..all good stuff.
Enjoy it man and thanks again.
Have a good day..

We have come to the end of the month, and I would like to thank @guidocreo for acting as host and introducing us to a ballad that was new for some of us. I would also like to thank the contributors and to encourage new members to join in.

As usual, the thread will remain open, so further contributions are welcome after the end of the month.
