If I were buying new I would doubtless head to one of the sax emporiums (emporii/emporia?) with my fist full of cash and try out a good few models - but that's a luxury I can only imagine.

Even so I found it very difficult to put myself in a completely impartial frame of mind and accept that in spite of what people say, it actualli is possible for a very much less exoensive unknown brand to be better (subjectively of course) than the more expensive established brand. I kept thinking "I must be imagining how good this horn seems to be." And speakof Yahamas, I similarly found it hard to accept how good the cheaper student models actually are as well.

I reckon Yamaha likely find it more challenging to design a modest student horn than a good pro one!
