Hi All,

I made an impulse buy today. A Bauhaus Walstein copper/bronze tenor sax. I don't know too much about them as I've simply never bothered to find out as they never really interested me?! until today! I currently play a silver Weltklang Solist tenor with a Selmer Metal E m/piece. I'm not sure I can ever part from my clunky old tenor but will be giving the BW a go and review here based on my findings. I noticed the BW owners club has the last posts about 2009 so I think that's when the saxes were relatively new on the scene.
Any thoughts and comments from fellow players of these saxes would be appreciated :)

I have a BW bronze Tenor, about 2 1/2 years old, I think. Its the TS PD (action improved) version.
I quite like it, but then it's the only tenor I've ever played.
Very heavy IMHO. in it's case, it feels heavier than my bari!

eBay buy?

next to be seen in the yard sale, then possibly here with me, hello mrs. impulse buyer from Mr.impusle buyer :)))

I'm with Mandy on this one. Bought my TS-PD at the end of last year. First and only Tenor and I like it a lot. Although it may be slightly heavy that actually gives me more confidence in build quality.

Mine will not be going in the yard sale for many many years....

BTW check out the BW Owners club again. Lots of activity since 2009

No, but I was watching it when it was £250... £260.... then it shot up to what you paid.
Your purchase is serial number 030136 and the seller bought it 2nd hand, from eBay.
When's it due to arrive?
I note he sold it due to acquiring a Buffet 400 Tenor - good man!
My BW tenor is the gold lacquer model. "Original" Spec "BW" logo on the bell.

Hi David, it's due to arrive tomorrow. that's interesting you know the s/n, did he buy it from you?! lol, I should stop asking questions! I am sure I will enjoy the sax. It looks a lovely instrument :) I never intended paying quite so much but I was pleased all the same as it was still a reasonable price I think. Do you happen to know if it is the action improved model or not? I'm not really too bothered either way but would be nice to know. Sax is a sax and if it plays well and looks great then I've done ok I guess. Just wanted to splash out a bit! I'm not too snobby over Chinese saxes, they have improved so much since when I was younger. I play a Phoenix clarinet because it has a nice build quality and super tone imo, so I'm all for the decent Chinese instruments! Modern technology and all that!!

No, it's not AI.

Just arrived & I've just played it. It was really worth the money and I say I got it for a pretty decent price. It sounds very warm but open and all the notes speak clearly. The pads are questionable about lifespan but for the time being it plays really well and I have nothing negative to say about the sax. It's taken me by surprise really. It sounds more 'free' than my Silver Weltklang but obviously you can tell the build qualities are different. However, that's not to say the BW is of a bad build quality because it isn't at all
so...I'm very happy :)
