Cool tech for 1930’s. That’s a good chunk of space in a small workspace. I wonder what the fire risk is ?

I watch some electronics channels and his stuff comes up from time-to-time. I have the Peterson strobe app as one of my tuners. I use it when Cleartune is misbehaving - usually when it fails to respond to sound. I prefer Cleartune because I can set it for 'violin' tuning for the cello i.e. perfect - not ET - fifths.

I'm not much of an electronics buff but I do enjoy watching technical overviews - and what often makes me laugh is how folks like Mr Carlson and Dave Jones (EEVblog) smell the kit. I do that too...when someone brings in a vintage beauty in its original case I just have to get my nose in there and breathe in the nostalgia.

Nothing like the “old” smell of a car. My favorite. Rusty metal, fabric & insulation, a hint of oil and exhaust pipe finish.
A old sax unused is completely different. Metal, a hint of fabric with a woody finish. Maybe a minor whiff of glue.
But nothing compares to the smell of old electronics. The old toy train smell.
