Thanks everyone for responding. I'm seriously thinking about a stand mixer and all the extras but they are pricey!

I definitely need a whisk I can use over a pan on Friday. So for now have gone for a more modern version of what I had. A more powerful motor and dough hooks as well as a whisk :)

I'm surprised no one mentioned the Thermomix. It's rather expensive, but such a great tool in the kitchen.

The latest model also has a larger bowl, that is our current issue with 3 teens to feed.

That's German engineering and has been imitated recently by Lidl. I can't tell how good the imitation is.
