There's a jam session near you!

The Jam session at the Stonewell Tavern in Lancaster has restarted. Every Sunday, 3.00 until 5 or 6ish.
This is designed to be a very open event. While a lot of the regulars are jazz players, all genres are welcome. The idea is to give people an opportunity to sit in and play.

Jerry will probably make free pasta at the end.

There's a monthly one in Wokingham. Next one's at The Two Poplars (118 Finchampstead Rd, Wokingham, Berkshire RG41 2NU) Sunday 15th February at 6:30pm, finishing at 9:30pm.

I haven't actually been to one of these. I might try to get to this one and see what it's like (but leaving my sax at home!!)

Its me again! As I'm still doing the traveling thing to Hastings and Rye a lot, I've been to several more jam sessions. Some great and some...well! I have to say first of all that I went to:-

The White Hart, Wadhurst
Superb session, music varied from reggae, to blues to jazz. Very welcoming people and not too loud. Every Wednesday (this clip is from an earlier session)
The Royal Oak in Pett village. every other Tuesday. This one's run by the Beachy Headbangers! Its folk, rock, blues and anything else that happens along. Extremely friendly place. They even have a Spaniel who'll join in the vocals if he can remember the words!
The Marina Fountain in Hastings This one comes along every Thursday. Again very nice people. Mostly blues orientated, but they are open to suggestions. This pub is very "Biker friendly" but don't let that put you off. You'll be made to feel very welcome all the same.

Till the next jam...

Hi Taz, they sound good! Love the 'beachy headbangers'

let me know if you are coming to Snowballville again.

Any Southern people or travelling chums know The Star in Dorking, Surrey? They advertise themselves as an arty pub that encourages music of all kinds , drama, poetry and the like. Open mic night on Thursdays. They claim good beer but invite you to bring your own food or buy from the chippy next door. Can't check it out for a few Thursday's yet but just wondered if anyone knew of it.

Similarly the Station Hotel, South Nutfield, Surrey. Has open mic jazz nights alternate Sundays. Described on one internet site as possibly the worst pub in Surrey, that was in 2007, but it's apparently been done up since then! (Hope so or I won't be trying it).
