The evil weed

Good luck to you Rudge, I wish you a speedy recovery.

Ive heard it said that things like this can be a warning to slow down and perhaps make a few changes.

Giving up smokes could be all you need to do.

I hope so.

Thanks for all your good wishes, its been over a week now and no cigs so fingers crossed, i am feeling remarkably well and with the time i now have to take off work (at least 6 weeks!) i can practice as much as i like :w00t:

6 days smoke free so far :w00t:

Well done, mate. Stick with it. My wife, a nurse and former smoker used to say that after about 7 days the physical addiction nicotine started to wear off. After that, it's mostly a mental thing.

Interesting fact. Nicotine is one of the most toxic substances around, about 1000 times more toxic than heroin, gramme for gramme. It used to be used by Victorian gardeners who wanted to clear a plot. When they put it on the ground, it simply killed everything.

Oh, and I used to smoke as well, and I often had a smoke stuck in my rods when playing as well. Sometimes a normal one, sometimes a 'jazz cigarette'

Haven't posted for a long while but thought I should add to this thread.

Stopped smoking 7 months ago on about the third attempt and hope I don't start again.

I was first caught smoking about 8 years old, first inhale at 15 so I have been smoking some 45+ years 😱

I could only use the patches for about 4 days then I would get a bad rash where the patches had been so had to rely on Alan Carr's book on stopping smoking (forget the actual title).

In my case I'm sure it was a mental thing more than the addiction to nicotine and Alan Carr's book helped with the mental state even though two hypnosis CDs did nothing.

As to the use of butt ends as a bug spray I can remember my dad, and all the other allotment holders, throwing his ends into a bucket of water to use as a bug spray :x

To all those giving up, good luck, stick with it then ween (sp?) yourself off the Polo mints slowly 😉

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
