Please could any Link tenor STM owner give me a side to side barrel measurement of this mouthpiece, I want to purchase a 2 screw ligature for my alto Goldbeck, I've tried the Selmer alto for metal and it's too small, if the tenor is slightly bigger it may work, Thanks in advance.

Contact JJ Babbitt directly. I would hope the maker knows all the options.

What used to be referred to as the Selmer 404 appeared to be the stock 2 screw ligature replacement for the Link STM, I ordered an alto but it is too small, by asking the question for a measurement across a tenor STM I may be able to gauge if that might fit my Goldbeck which has a similar profile to the STM.

Why don't you start by measuring the piece you want to fit a ligature to. Then go from there. Right now you're trying to covert an alto STM to a Selmer 404 that might fit a tenor STM for a Goldbeck.

You see the problem now? You just need to find what fits YOUR mouthpiece. Not an estimate for a guesstimate.

I recently got a new STM Link, and the store owner sold me (I know, he’s a very good salesman!) a new ligature that Selmer makes for their Tribute mouthpiece. It was just a little too big, so I added a layer of UHMW tape, and now it works perfectly.

Not sure if this will help @majordennis but it may help those in search of an alternate for their STMs.

Ooof. I know I don't live in the real world. regarding what things cost, but that's a lot of money for a bit of bent brass. We have CNC plasma / waterjet (latter requires calling in favours but is more accurate on thick stuff) at work. Maybe I should go into production.

Anyone local have a metal 3D printer ? You’ll do better doing the couple years of R & D on 3D plastic.

I tend to agree that ligature price are more often than not eye openers, and feel over priced but the one posted here is far from exceptional pricewise.
Don't look up vintage ligatures unless you are sat down or in a soft play area where it may be safer and you are prepared to fall down

What was the result?
Care to share your findings ?
ALC407 tenor ligature from Dawkes, looks like the 404 I remember from the past, fits both alto Link and Goldbeck and holds the reed firmly, cannot comment on anything beyond that I just blow and if a half decent sound comes out the other end I'm happy, I have got images but not sure how to post them.

ALC407 from Dawkes, (I have always known them as 404's) advertised as a tenor ligature (for Selmer metals) but fit my alto STM and Goldbeck.

I would say it holds the reed firmly but other than that cannot comment, I just blow down the sharp end and if anything remotely decent comes out the other I'm happy.

I have images if someone tells me how to post them in thumbnail form.
