Surreal Insurance quote true story

Actually, I got a good quote with Direct Line this year

Jx
Just tried Direct Line online quote. Very good (way easier than RAC and half the price of Admirable)

The form had the option for occupation as either Composer or Jazz Composer.

I initially chose Composer, but the edited it to jazz Composer and the quote reduced by £11.

Is less risky or do they just feel sorry for you if you are a jazz composer? Does "jazz" cover associated genres such as old time R & B or Afro caribbean? I shall have to ring up and ask them so wait for the 2nd instalment of surreal insurance quote.

Jazz composers are perhaps thought of as being more "laid back" as opposed to those crazy, devil may care Classical types.

It's a few years ago but I had a claim with them and they were excellent unlike horror stories I've heard from other companies..

Be sure you can play jazz as if you have a claim you may have to prove it by playing over twenty random notes in one second!

Direct line anticipate you will ring; and they will hold until they've cleared £12 in call charges

It's an 0345 number, which counts as geographic not premium and included in an inclusive minutes package if you have one.

I've used Direct Line for years, and found them very quick and easy to deal with. I recently had to contact them to get my comprehensive cover extended to cover driving in France for a while. Very easy to get through to an intelligent human being, who sorted out the requirements quickly and cheaply.

Just renewed mine today stayed with Hastings as they adjusted their ridiculously over the top renewal price, why do they give out such stupid renewal quotes :confused2:
Hoping you'll fall for it

Different company did same thing to my other half's renewal the other day. Also got reduction on phone

Maybe it's a way of making a small price rise invisible against the apparent discount

One Boxing Day, I was burgled, and the spare car key was among the items taken. I reported this to the broker so that I would have some sort of note on file with the underwriter in case the car went missing and was subsequently found without signs of forced entry - and changed the steering wheel and handbrake/gearstick locks as the keys for the originals were also on the stolen keyring. (Lock replacement was not even offered as an option on the policy, although it now seems to be included as standard.)

In the February, I received a renewal quote for the vehicle which showed the premium had doubled whilst the vehicle itself was listed as "stolen not recovered".

(The thieves continued to use the key to gain access to the car until Good Friday that year, as I repeatedly found doors unlocked when I had not had passengers!)

Unbelievable letter from Direct Line re: an Audi Write-off payment in 2019, for which they paid up promptly and quite a bit more than I was going to sell it for

Completely out of the blue last year they paid £387 saying they had underpaid in 2019 due to a revaluation of the Audi.

Then today I got another letter saying due to further re-evaluation they are paying me a further £1205.87

Drinks are on me tonight!

You need to buy a lottery ticket Pete it could be third time lucky.

Nuts (in a good way). You’d presume that whatever they offered/paid and you cashed and somehow signed off would be the end of it.

Years ago my wife received a cheque out of the blue for PPI mis-selling. She’d never claimed for anything. Can’t remember the exact figure but it was something ridiculous like £15,000

I think that must have been the one was meant for me and she must have got it by accident. I'll send over my bank details so she can transfer it across. I'll owe her a pint.

When clients asked me how I'd like my coffee I'd say:

"Sweet and black, white no sugar."

They'd typically nod, turn to go make it, then turn back with a quizzical look...

I got a refund from HMRC a couple of days ago, it was expected though I was surprised they'd added interest at about 2.6%.

We had the same thing. To be fair the Bank contacted us and said we might be due a repayment and we filled in some forms. Sadly ours was only £12,000!

However - I'm not complaining.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
