I've realised, now that I've been playing it for a while, what I don't like about my straight soprano. My right thumb doesn't rest comfortably, and also my left thumb is snagged slightly by the sling - I know I don't really need a sling, but this helps alleviate the right thumb discomfort somewhat.
What I am wondering is if it is possible to put a very slight bend in the crook without affecting the intonation - probably only about 10deg. Unfortunately the crook is not removeable.
