Selmer series 11 or three soprano

I am looking to purchase a selmer soprano after looking at all the other makes and have decided on either the series 2 or three I am looking more at the straight neck ones as i cannot see i would use two although the three seems to indicate its a better model with improvements.

Any comments would be useful

When you get to a certain level of quality on an instrument, the differences between each become entirely up to your personal interpretation. Does the Series III cost more than the Series II? Yes. Is it a better horn? To some, it is. To some, it isn't. When I was buying my professional Alto, I found that I liked the Series II better than the III. It just fit more with the sound I had in my head.

Play both horns, pick which one you like better. It's a lot of money to spend, it's worth the trip to a good music store.

I second rs2sensen's advice.

I really liked the series 2 tenors but preferred the series 3 altos.

You're just going to have to try them out and see. The results might surprise you. While trialling tenors, my favourite was actually a keilwerth.
