Hi there, my name is Andy Liddell and I’m a musician and music teacher (teaching saxophone, clarinet, flute and music theory/composition). I’ve been teaching for around 10 years now - up until recently I was doing most of my teaching in person, but I’m now just in the process of making the transition into teaching online, for obvious reasons! I feel that online teaching can be a great way of learning a new instrument and actually has a lot of advantages. I'll provide all necessary sheet music and materials, exercises, etc. as PDFs, and I enjoy teaching at all levels and absolute beginners are welcome!
I have wide experience as a performer and teacher, teaching saxophone, clarinet, and flute, as well as theory and composition. As far as formal education goes, I’m trained to masters level in music (at Middlesex University and Trinity Laban Conservatoire), and I also have a DipABRSM diploma in Principles of Instrumental/Vocal Teaching.
I enjoy teaching all ages and levels, and I have experience teaching from early primary school age up to older adult learners. I have a clear DBS check which dates from 2018.
I always feel that if someone’s learning an instrument it’s important for them to be playing music that they like and have a connection with as much as possible - for this reason I always try to be as flexible as I can with the styles of music that I teach and involve the student in repertoire choice as much as I can. Most of my performing background was in jazz (my undergraduate degree was a BA in jazz performance from Middlesex University), but I’ve played and taught many styles of music.
My fees are £35 for an hour online lesson, or £20 for half an hour, and I can offer a discount for bulk advance bookings. I'm also happy to offer the first lesson as a free trial lesson.
