Beginner Saxes Sax Shops in Melbourne

Hi All, sorry if this is the wrong spot for this thread

Awhile ago I posted about saving for a sax, still going along nicely, but am struggling to find anywhere that sells any instruments in my area (Melbourne, Australia).

Can anybody with more experience in the area recommend some establishments to look into?

This guy @secondhandsaxes is a member here, hasn't posted for a while. He has quite a lot of stock in your price range. Looks like a postal operation. I've not heard anything about what he's like to deal with:

May be worth a call. But buying by post can be problematic if there are things that need fixing. Better to buy locally, find a good local technician.

thanks for that...
i post nearly every saxophone i sell,and have done for many years now.....very rarely do they either come back to me because not working,or because they don't like the saxophone....
best just to check out my stock and give me an email or call....

i also recommend a beginner to buy a yamaha student model,wether from me or someone else,as,they are in tune,sound good,are good under the fingers,and when it comes to resell,they are easy to sell and keep their value....

i always have yamaha student saxophones in stock,wether tenor or alto....

If you live in Melbourne one of the obvious choices I think would be this mob...

Ozwinds Brass and Woodwind Orchestral Music Store

or look for a good pre-loved / second hand Yamaha standard or student model like a 21, 23 (no high F#), 25 (with high F#) or 275 (forum member Saxlicker has recently posted an article about a 275 alto) you should be able to find something on Aussie e-bay or maybe check out the pawn shops like Cash Converters...and seek advise from an experienced player there is no shortage of sax players in the Melbourne area...
