[QUOTE="rs2sensen, post: 615288, member: 10132"] The concert went well. There really isn't all that much to describe about it. No major issues came up, and our quintet had fun playing beforehand. We played an incredible arrangement of assorted Gershwin tunes, a spanish piece called "El Relicario," "A Touch of Tuba," which we actually had a trombone playing the Tuba solo part, and "A Russian Festival," which was a rather entertaining piece that at times had the theme song to the video game "Tetris." Yesterday I drove down to Elkhart, Indiana and snuck around the old Conn-Selmer factory. Hopefully I'll post some pictures at some point. If you want to read more about this adventure, I've got a thread going in "The Breakfast Room" part of the forum. Today I dropped an email off to a vintage sax dealer near Madison, WI. I've been watching his site, which appears to only be half constructed, and I offered to make a new site for him in exchange for a vintage Conn soprano he has. The soprano is a "Pan American" model, which isn't quite as good as a full fledged Conn, although there is some debate. Conn really liked to experiment around that time. The horn isn't worth much because it's been through a relaquer and had some minor dent work, but I still wouldn't mind having it. My current soprano is a piece of crap, and I can hope that the Conn will be better. I'm anxiously awaiting a reply to see if he'll consider my offer. Tomorrow, or I guess (since it's 2am), today, I get my braces off. I'm looking forward to it immensely! I only hope that I won't have to "learn to play the saxophone" again, due to the fact that I'll have a much larger oral cavity (all that metal takes up a lot of space!) This coming week is filled with rehearsals. I'm hoping I can back off from them a little bit soon, though. I have AP College Board exams in a week (I'm taking a college level English Language and Composition Course, and a college level European History course. Depending on my performance on the exams for the respective courses, certain colleges will give me credit for completing the classes), the SAT (a national standardized test for college entrance), and my final exams coming around in about a month.
