Saxophone beginners Relief from sax elbow?

I am a family doc by profession, my advice is to visit a family physician or orthopedic surgeon, depending on the way you're health care system is set up, work out what is wrong then work out what to do about it. The post has assumed you have tennis elbow however Colin has pointed out one alternative diagnosis.
I agree - too big a risk of inappropriate treatment making things worse otherwise.

But, be prepared to search hard. In the book playing less hurt more, there are lots of examples of why you need to find specialists in music instrument playong related physical problems. The book is a terrible read, but a goldmine of information.

I have read through this thread again, and feel compelled to make some comments about seeking help in forums regarding health problems.
I strongly suspect that the chances of getting an inaccurate diagnosis and inappropriate treatment are high, though I can offer no statistics to support this.
Regarding diagnosis, self diagnosis is notoriously unreliable, those offering a diagnosis may not be aware of other conditions with a similar presentation and may have no knowledge of the seeker's other health issues which can affect both diagnosis ( and treatment). Physical examination is not possible.
If an inaccurate diagnosis is made then the chances of inappropriate treatment are high. Advise regarding treatment may also be inappropriate because of lack of lack of knowledge about other heath issues, other medicines, allergies etc.
I will concede that if your health care providers (doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists etc) are struggling to help with a problem you may get some help from a forum where there is particular expertise about your hobby or job. I would urge caution with such advise and discussion with your health care provider
On a final note (pun intended) be very cautious about remedies for anything that you see in adverts on the television and web, there is often a strong commercial influence to the evidence that they present (the advertiser has something to sell). Here in Canada so called "natural remedies" are not subject to the same rigorous scrutiny by Heath Canada (equivalent of the USA FDA, I do not know what the UK equivalent is )regarding their efficacy, side effects etc. that conventional medicines are.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
