N.B. All posts should have subject headers relevant to the topic if possible, try to avoid headers such as "Question", or worse still "A Few Questions". If you have several unrelated questions make a new topic for each.

I don't see how you could of thought of 'smorgasbord'. It does come from the Swedish.

Though potpourri does have a nice ring to it.

I once made the mistake of telling my Swedish friend that smorgasbord wasn't an English word. Oops. I got put in my place a little later by a photo... of an entry in a dictionary.

I couldn't agree more, Pete... I belong to several forums, and it's so useful to get a clue about the thread's content from its heading.

But one can sound a bit anal requesting it if you are not the forum owner or a moderator.... I have had a couple of very rude responses, so now just don't bovver 😉

Yeah, that face don't look bovvered to me either...

I'm all in favor of lots of beginners and lots of their questions, they often seem to have the best questions, especially when completely new to music as they don't make any assumptions.

I often feel like you can learn more from a beginner at times than you can from a pro.

I guess that's why I think anyone should be able to answer as we can all learn from everyone irrespective of skill level/experience.

It's also hard to define a beginner. Because of my high standards and lack of saxophone experience I would still class myself a beginner, but very new players would perceive it differently and could argue I'm intermediate. I mean to classify anything you need to make a comparison and that's rather hard because you've now got two classes to identify!
