I believe Pete is indeed away, I think there is a thread about it somewhere, I'd assume in the Breakfast room sub-forum or whatever it's called.
Personally I think Pete does a great job moderating. He doesn't do much 'visable' moderating which is good, but will step in and make sure things don't run too out of check when needed. It gives the forum a nice relaxed and respectful feel and tone.
He has a huge amount of posts and as the forum isn't exactly old, it goes to show his dedication. He does have a wage to earn like the rest of us and is quite a busy man from what I can tell. He obviously is fond of the forum from the amount of time he puts in on the site and off the site, keeping file sizes small, making the forum look nice, trying to keep it running with aid from advertising but not overcrowding and doing his best at keeping it a people's forum for the people and very friendly.
Jazzzzz8. Many people will 'lurk' this means they are members who actively use the site and read the threads etc. but do not post at all. This can explain some of the post to viewing ratios. Also many people will read something because the thread grabs them but then they find that they have nothing constructive to add or a comment to make as other people have already said what they want to say.
There are many many people on this forum all with very different backgrounds and experiences and they can all offer every one of us some help or advise or even gentle encouragement with a problem.
I don't know if this is in response to a thread you made asking specifically for help from Pete, but if so then other forum members may read the thread and not answer because they feel their post would be deemed unhelpful because you have asked a specific forum member for a response.
