Anyone have vintage catalogs, advertising or case emblem pictures / copies to share ?

Store emblems make for some fascinating historical research.

This sax below came from Smarts Music Shop. Could it be the one in display case ?

I have a Buescher case with that emblem, and a Holton case with its emblem.

My bass sax is in its much battered original case but no emblem, and my baritone in its even more battered case but no emblem. Neither of these had the emblem when I got them.

I always thought the foil adhesive backed store emblems applied to the velvet inside the case were cool. My two flute cases have these. They are modern instruments, but Carolyn Nussbaum still follows that practice.

All my other horns are in cases of zero collector interest whatsoever.

This is the back cover of my first instruction book that was given to me around 1968-1969. It's the oldest sax-related item that I own. The prices are interesting and never to be seen again. I would have loved to show you the case emblem from my King Cleveland, but the interior had molded over time and in poor storage, so it was thrown away.

Nice to hear someone is continuing the tradition. The interior foil ones don’t usually survive well. Like one in fifty may still have a model label. This below from a 1933 metal clarinet.

This is a bunch I collected over the years. I think I have more somewhere else, but I had scanned this grouping a few years ago.

Anyone recognize the left lower one with the red shield? I don't recall seeing it anywhere else--but then I haven't been looking either. 😉

Nice assortment ! Can’t say I’ve seen that one in lower left.

Somewhat ironically, this was the era when H.N. White merely embossed their logo into the vinyl covering, so that one is barely visible.
Picture possible ? Maybe a pencil rub onto paper ?
King / H.N. White like others had several different designs over the years.
Here’s two from the mid 1920’s. An exterior badge and an interior foil emblem.

And an interior picture of a C Melody case with a ribbon.

Some american emblems; Martin Handcraft (original case of my HC Committee from 1938), "The Martin", Pan American and Conn.

..... and when I open the HC case there is a golden shield glued on the green "fluff". The green fluff is very close to the colour of a Buick Riviera Super Eight -51: Geneva Green. If you going to relaquer a Buick from 1951, just open a Committe case from 1938 ....

"V.Kohlert's Sohne - Graslitz C. S. R." A straight Bb Kohlert Model 1927 soprano is resting inside..

A Julius Keilwerth emblem on a cool case. It's the original case of a black and gold "New King" 1968. "Puppytooth", a hipster sax and case back then.

I’ve never seen these two before. Thanks for sharing. This thread is going to have some great history content :thanks2:

I don't think a pencil rubbing would pick it up, but it can be seen from the right angle in the right light.

My 1943 Silver King's original case is the same way. I'd surmise that it was a wartime development - couldn't spend precious brass on case emblems.
Rare to see much from ‘41-‘45. Looks like a gold(?) foil embossed stamp of sorts.

Old saxes and cases can give us lots of saxophone history. Some things I found in a (Dolnet Bel-Air tenor -47) case I bought for 20 years ago. Beside the sax and the case there was also the original receipt from the shop, an old CZ high baffle mouthpiece, a handy screwdriver set from Japan, Saxoil from Shirley, Surrey, England and reeds from LOA in an elegant "flip box like" box. Often I could decide what kind of music the saxophonists were into according from songlits.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
