new to alto sax

was doing o.k got chest infection and did`nt play for 3 weeks. Now struggling with bottom d and all other notes sound `woolly` also using beginners reed 2 and just keep splitting please advise janice

Hi Janice, and welcome.

I'd like to help but could do with a bit more information to work out what the problem might be. If you're back to full fitness now the notes should play the same way they did before, unless there's a leak in your sax somewhere. 'Woolly' notes might be because of an issue with your instrument, or the reed, or your technique.
Do you mean that the notes or the reeds keep splitting!? Are you using a named brand of reed?

Might be a good idea to stay out of the yorkshire hills during the winter months the damp air can get on your chest
