There’s a guy who lives locally who is offering me a half hour lessons for $25. I guess he traveled with the Tommy Dorsey band for seven years so he must be pretty good at what he does. I think I’ll hook up with him next Wednesday for my first lesson.

Having a teacher will usually avoid a lot of pain later on, and make you progress faster.

I really struggled with a 30 min lesson as you hardly get any playing time once you've set up. I have an hour lesson every fortnight which gives you more time to practice aswell. Good luck

My lessons are one hour and he lives a few blocks away, so no effect of traffic and travel. One of the first benefits I got was that I was practicing major scales in chromatic order. He got me practicing in cycle of fifths order, which made more sense to understand the saxophone fingerings.

I figured an hour a week was best. Surprised that most teachers don’t do that these days!
