Hi there folks i was just wondering what kind of mouthpeice would be suitable to use on a conn 10m. Im looking for that coleman hawkins sound but also maybe a lee allen sound. Any suggestions? Thanks

An old white Brilhart maybe?

Just a thought, its such a personal thing but my recent soiree into the mouthpiece hunt lead me to a Selmer soloist C** which I found to be both dark and amazingly responsive.

I think it's easy to find a mpc to a Conn 10M. Brilhart, Link, Berg Larsen , Meyer, Selmers ... works. But to sound like Hawkins or Allen, that's really hard.

I have to say Runyon Quantum. Since I've become a seasoned and experienced busker.......ok so I've only done it once...., I have discovered a new side to my RQ that I love. I think that when I busk, my nerves play up and it effects the way I play. The sax sounds so smooth and sweet. Really nice sound. At the other end of the spectrum, when I play with my band, its a real screamer.
Best of both worlds I recon

I use an Eddie Lawton on my 10M. I got hold of a Brilhart, having heard great things about them, but have never settled with it, and after a back-to-back session with the Lawton, it's sitting on the shelf unused. However, I can't say I am 100% happy with the Lawton either and am still looking. I also have Runyon - to be honest, for me, it makes a raucous din and intonation on the lower notes is difficult to control. But we're all different and so are the saxes - it's just trial and error and what works for one won't neccessarily work for another.

A large chamber, low baffle is what you need. There are a number of pieces that fit that description.
I'm not sure about that... When i put an ebonite link on mine it ended up sounding so dark that it sounded like there was a sock stuffed down the bell!

Just an update to let you all know that i got a new mouthpeice for my conn 10m. I decided in the end to go for an Otto Link STM number 6 from sax.co.uk (It was actually you that i spoke to on the phone Jules) and i am very pleased with it. Thanks all for your help on this though.
