wow!

Pete, I'm impressed. You really cover all the basics from step one and beyond. Very thourough and efficient. Not only is the video top-notch, it got here pronto fast!! (Shipped to Japan)

I can't resist recommending your video to ANY newcomer to the saxophone. Well worth the money spent.

Pete starts out with how to assemble the saxophone and mouthpiece and covers everything.

Did you really "glue" your fingers to the keys to increase your efficiently?

If you haven't gotten the video yet, you really should!

Lisa, it's an excellent dvd, well worth the money, but i don't know if it would help you getting out of your rut.

If i find myself getting bogged down, i jump from one teaching book to another, to see if someone else can explain something in a different way. Generaly works ok. The books i use are, The Complete Saxophone Player (omnibus edition) by Raphael Ravenscroft, The Jazz Method For Saxophone by John O'neil, and Creative Saxophone, by Kellie Santin & Cheryl Clark.

You could try going off at a tangent, if your main "type" of music is lets say easy listening, things you might hear on daytime radio 2, then try some Jazz or something funky, just have a go at something completely different.

If that fails, a 2 litre bottle of wine, and 2 or 3 hours of Maceo Parker, Candy Dulfer and David Sanborn always help.

PS, did you have a go at Junior Walkers, Walk in the Night......??

John.

Hi Bererunner,

I think it's not that I'm stuck in a rutt bored, but more stuck in a rutt not learning anything new! It's difficult to know what to cover next when you're on your own - know what I mean? As a result I guess I am getting a bit fed-up.

I might pick up those books you suggest (the wine etc is not a bad suggestion either!) . I did give Walk In The Night a go - very nice. Thanks for your help with that. I'd still love music for Soul Darling...

Catch ya later!
Lisa

Yeah good vid Pete. Covers quite a bit, and great for the up-n-coming RnB player. Did you really play with the girl standing yer stomach?? Ouch.

I don't think the producer could stretch the budget to CGI or stuntmen so what you see is what happened. My fault for boasting about how strong my stomach muscles were in the pub the evening before the shoot. The director said, I bet you can't play with hannah standing on your stomach, what could I do?
