Tech/maintenance I have no words...

But folk derive a lot of benefit by your restoring those crooks to factory specs, look and feel. The assortment of special tools you have manufactured for such work is amazing.
As do I. I quite like bringing a knackered old crook joint back from the dead. Job satisfaction +.
It's messy work, but nothing beats the feel of a perfectly-mated tenon sleeve sliding into the receiver.

More for @lydian to be speechless about 😉

Not cork but copper...the JLV Phonic Ring (curry not included)

Nope. Not rising to take that bait.
Not sure how you gain humour in that statement. Stephen has explained in other posts whether his site or here his work including photos. Restore an old sax's brass neck receiver fit and finish through resize or remake. It doesn't get any better than this and the customer is thoroughly satisfied.

I can see how they did! As soon as I re-read what I'd written I could hear Kenneth Williams exclaiming "Oooh Matron!" in the background.

"The ring goes inside the mouthpiece as a resonator to make your saxophone more free-blowing and increase your projection and allow a greater ease when playing altissimo. It works by vibrating inside the mouthpiece and changing the airflow."
Unlike many other similarly advertised (snakey oil placebo type) gizmos this one sounds like it would definitely affect the sound and probably the response. Whether in a good way who knows?

Another essential bit of kit, the Mr PS Resonator:

@Colin the Bear might find it more comfortble than the Phonic Ring.... 😉

🫪 I’m not associated with the company or product.

“This version (the black) - is the brighter sounding version of the two plastic resonators available on the Mr PS resonators website.” black is brighter 🤦‍♂️

Got to give Mr PS credit for mass marketing campaign. Lots of hits I search.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
