Hey All, Thanks for the 'BIG WELCOMES'
Just to clarify, its MUSIC ROCKS. Just crazy about good music.
Am in my early 30's and just started learning on an alto which I picked up for approx $330 incl shipping from Guitar centre. It's an Etude EAS 100 and sounds reasonably decent (atleast to my ears) though am still struggling shifting from C to D on the G major scale (hope I got that right). I like contemporary music and some Kenny G (though I wish I had a few more lungs to play any of his stuff). I don't really like listening to modern music but the sax cover versions tend to really blow me away.
Been practicing for about 2 weeks now and still going on long tones and the G Scale.
For my friends across the "DITCH", am learning off this cool Kiwi guy who is in Sydney for bit.
However haven't seen that many people interested from this side of world. Seems to be more popular with the US. Either that or have been reading the wrong posts and websites.
Don't think I will be able to contribute soon enough considering have just been practicing for about 2 weeks and that too in the park with my wife playing the role of my ears (not ideal since she usually gets grumpy since I go early in the morn and play over her whilst shes trying to practice her 'descant recorder').
Learnt a few good things in the park - never leave your case open( the dogs love to steal anything from the pad savers to the reeds) and ofcourse if you blow it at them, they tend to take offense no matter how innocent you try to look.
Another half an hour and then a nice long weekend to relax. Feels so good right now.........
