I have a Tilley that has been with me for decades now. Just a great boating/recreational hat that'll keep the sun off you, ties in the front and back to stay on your head and even has a hidden pocket inside. Guaranteed for life, allegedly, but I haven't had need to take them up on such warranty. Anyhow, that hat has been with me for all sorts of travels over the years... but then my son buys me another sort of adventure hat... so I had to take that one on my last trip.

It's a Scala Sport.

I don’t like baseball hats and anything with logos yet I have a baseball cap with a big TILLEY logo across the front, which occasionally gets worn in the back garden.
Then it was a free gift for buying his and her ‘Adventure hats’.

I have accumulated many hats. No hair to mess up. Fedoras in several colours and materials, top hats high and low. Homburg, Bowler, Boater, N

ews boy caps in various colours. Parade caps...even a pith helmet.

My adventure as shown above was a trek to the mountains... to a tasting on a back patio at a Poconos wine bar. The Scala being somewhat new, I have to break it in gently. My Tilley? That's been out on the ocean. And not just on a cruise ship.

The hat I miss is the proper dark green felt trilby which I lost. That would cost a lot to replace now. I have a Tilley as well for holidays in hotter climates. It went to Namibia last year and it's just been to Crete a couple of weeks ago.

I also have a top hat and a pith helmet... A Homburg would be nice, but a decent one ain't cheap.

In the UK I was never a hat person, other than as required by law.
Here, quite for North, in springsummerautam either it's raining or the sun is low in the sky - so I've become a peaked hat user.
In winter, wooly hat.
Either way, only for coming and going and never for when I'm there.

My son worked at the local Hats in the Belfry for a time and got me a really nice Italian Peaky Blinder cap. Each model has some fancy Italian name, but instead I dubbed mine "The Sanford":
