Gutted - how long does it take to fix dent in bell?

It is just a dent on the bell, don't worry.
Do all notes play correctly?

I didn't want to blow it last night after I got home, will try tonight.

Now I will have to come down just so OG gets his pint

I know that Dawkes removed a dent while I waited - shop wasn't busy - and charged me £15. It was deep and was on my Cannonball Excalibur, black nickel. Did a great job. I know it is quite a distance but it could well be that any good techie will remove while you wait.

That's really good to know, there is a place nearby but it's so precious to me and whilst I let them stick a pad back on once I'm not sure how specialist they are but if it's a straightforward thing maybe I'm worried over nothing

Good I am glad you feel a little better. The dent in the Cannonball was nasty. Must have been dropped on something very sharp almost as if it had been stabbed by a quarter inch chisel (!!). Can hardly see it, only if you knew it was there. Yours will probably be invisible. All of my vintage horns have had dents removed apart from my Typewriter. Don't fret and give her a blow....

Locally, there are a couple of places you could try. There is John Clark (The Woodwind Workshop) who has a saxophone repair shop above Johnny Roadhouse on Oxford road, and Steve at Cheshire Woodwinds in Timperley - both can be found on google.

Although it's a pain when something like this happens, but by all accounts it doesn't sound too serious. I think it helps to be a bit paranoid around your instruments, I played a Crystal Clarinet MP for years and I dropped one once. Needless to say, there wasn't much to pick up. But since then I've been a bit paranoid around MP,s and no mishaps since. Perhaps this little incident will prevent a bigger one in the future.
