G2 (second octave) is screaching - why ?

I hope the OP has figured out the problem...because it'd be a real drag if not - it's been almost 9 years now.,.

I tried various things, including a different neck, different mouthpieces and reeds. Some things helped to reduce the screeching but this tenor is still more prone to the G2 and G#2 breaking up than any of my other tenors (probably about eight). So it stays in its case and doesn't screech at all.

Ahhhhhh....BUT.....as the old saying goes...

"When a sax remains in its case and screeches, does it actually make a sound ?"
