DIY emergency repairs

Just thought I'd let you know that the little round red piece of felt under the 'A' key of my tenor fell out. Didn't want to use something drastic like superglue, so stuck it back with some paper glue. It fell out again, so tried with double sided sticky pad. Held it in place ok, but messed up me playing, as the felt was now thicker than the felt under the 'B' key, ie pads not coming down evenly.
Next idea - stuck on sticky pad on it's own, leaving paper on the other sticky side. It works! Or at least until the paper wears through and the key gets stuck to the pad holder!

Any other "too tight to pay for a service" people with DIY repair tips? Could be a good thread. I have visions of elastic bands, elastoplas, gaffa tape etc already!!

evo stick contact adhesive.

apply a thin coat on each surface (i use an old reed for this)

let it "go off" almost touch to dry

press together

job done

As Jools, who now seems to have, unfortunately, disappeared from here advised - go to B & Q and get yourself some of the self adhesive cork pads that are sold to go on the base of stuff to protect shiny surfaces. I followed that advice and always carry some of those pads, a stanley knife and a manicure set.
Why the manicure set??
Because it has tweezers, little spatula things and an eyeliner brush that is soooo useful for cleaning before trying to stick the new cork to the metal of the sax.
It's got me out of trouble!!

Cheers, some good advice there.
Strangely, when my wife was cleaning, she found one of those stick on feet on the floor, but was a plastic one - too thick. I tried it but of course no good. Ok I'll look into the B&Q corks. They sound like they might do for the cork bits already on the sax too.

In a previous thread, someone mentioned a temporary replacement for a lost pad.....Blue tack held in place with clingfilm (I think it may have been Griff, but I'm steeling the credit for it now )
