The implication here is that it's only ok to publicise festivals in places where Pete has lived. Can I mention the forthcoming Rhythms of the World festival which is happening next month in Hitchin?

I've never lived in Croydon, have no intention of going there, but I am going to the Upton on Severn Blues festival next month. Better every year and all those guitars and saxophones!!

I lived in Eltham Wells once, just around the corner from Paul Dunstall's shop (all you old cafe racers)

You did a good job but why are the library fines so high? Surely a discount for fellow saxists?

Paul Dunstall! More a Velo man myself. Vitually unstealable as unless you knew how to kickstart them, you'd either end up with a broken leg or exhausted. Used to spend hours up at Streamline, amused by the attempts to start Gold Stars.
Eltham has a Cajun/Zydeco gig once a month, so it's a squeezy not a blowey in that neck of the woods.

Saw the Surrey Youth Jazz Orchestra at a freebie in the Whitgift Mall. Seventeen youngsters playing Basie, Kenton, usual standards and a commission.
Tight, accurate, musicians and with a little more development, good soloists too. We'll have to dig up Woody and get him to rename 'Four Brothers' to 'Four Brothers and a Sister' as lead alto was very feminine, as was fourth trumpet and drummer. No screamer trumpet, possibly to protect young chops?
Left me feeling very confused as being ancient can remember total compartmentation of music, even the trad jazzers hating the modernists. Now it is just music and accepted as such. Feeling the same as Herod and thinking of killing all musos under 22, no let's make that 70, so that I get a chance.
Their tone on 'Lil Darling' was as least as good as on 'The Atomic Mr. Basie' and the live concerts and 'Splanky' gave everyone a good workout. Anyone want to join the 'Canonise Neal Hefti' movement? 😉
Ah yes, mustn't forget the guitarist, solid Freddie Green all the way.
Catch them if you can.

Probably googling it, there are so many of them now, and not just the corporate pop festivals. It seems like every town and even some quite small places have something going on over the summer. That Upton on Severn Blues fest sounds interesting..

There's probably only 200 houses in Marsden!
