Thank you . $200 CAD for an SML tenor sounds like a good deal but I won’t rub it in. It probably needed all kinds of work done to it. Maybe someone just bought it for parts.Nice horn, Nikki! I almost bought an SML Gold Medal tenor for CAD200 a few months back, but didn't get to it in time. Still kicking myself.
L&M shops usually have dependable techs. You could try a UV lamp as aldevis suggested, but if the smell's strong, you'll probably need to strip it, chem bathe it, and replace the corks, felts, and pads. Still, even with the price of a full refurb, you'll still be ahead if you ever wanted to sell. But I'm guessing this one's a keeper, eh?
( shrug ) lol.
I don’t know how much mine is worth. I was guessing from the ads I’d seen and I still think Yamaha makes an excellent sax. I was comparing two different saxophones that both need fixing so it’s an unfair comparison.
I am going to get a complete overhaul. This thing is worth it. It will be like new. So happy.
Squeal.
Thanks again.
