Circular breathing

Has anyone tried it, done it, or used it? I wouldn't know where to start, and am not sure I'd want to anyway. I know it's a technique used by Courtney Pine and Rolf Harris, but is there anyone else?

you need CB for diggeri doo playing .. used to play with a guy who could do it.. never saw the point really . just a gimmick.. a bit like wagging your ears

How long did it take you to build up enough oomph to be able to blow a sax whilst doing CB?

I used to use it but as a gimick. I don't do any live gigs anymore so I haven't used it for a while.

I had a short stint of trying to learn how too.
I was progressing but gave up as I couldn't be bothered it wasn't high on the priority list.

I have a (enter correct spelling of Didge-er-e-doo here) so It was a bit of a laugh when I managed to get it going a bit.

I know a trombone player who claimed he beat a breathalyser using it - not sure I approve of that!

Pete, is that straight up, honest gospel truth, you were taught to circular breathe by the Antipodean wobble-board meister, paint-flinger and all-round renaissance man, St Rolf of Harris? We are indeed not worthy. Is there anything the man can't do?

Yes it is true. I was in the house band at Batley Variety Club and we had a week backing Rolf, that's when he showed me how to circular breathe

Rolf Harris eh! I met him in Southampton when I was about 8 years old. He didn't teach me to circular breathe though! He signed a photo and had a brief chat.
