You have probably realised that the Humph thing was caused by a bet about ringing an apology out of you on the BR, well you know how boys are.
Well I won and next time you are in SW19 which does include slum areas, will be happy to buy you, Colin and even Smudger a pint but no poncy trattoria.

I will willingly apologise if I upset/offend anyone - they do not not have to wring an apology out of me; just ask. Obviously certain music under the title of jazz leaves me unmoved or uninterested (Trad and most Pre-War) , but that is just my taste, not somebody else's.

Sounds like CR9 is like SA2 ("an ashtray of a place..", as the Lonely Planet Guide once described it). One of my funniest experiences in my teens was in Aberdare, where I observed a sheep waiting at the traffic lights which were on red at the time - priceless.

Thanks for the apology - I agree my overall contribution to British Jazz is unlikely to have bettered Humph's - its just I personally find his music unlistenable to, as with Ball and Bilk, who people seem to have less positive views on.
