Reeds Cheaper Legere

Hi All. Have been very happily using Legere signature but I see that the cheaper ones in the Legere range are a lot cheaper. Anyone tried them? What is the difference between the Signature and the more boggy standard ones?

I use the Legere Signature and like them. I have tried the Studio ones, they seem to give notes that are less pure, more buzzy but seem to respond the same. I prefer the tone I get with the Signature. I suppose if I played my high baffle JDX6 and wanted to frighten a lead guitar they might be good.

The signature range are harder material cut thinner. The studio are cut thicker from softer material I believe.

They have honoured the exchange policy for me on at least two occasions, it has not been a problem.

Yes the Legere Signature are like real reeds, the others are like all the other synthetics.

Ivan, I was the 2nd one on the list to agree. I've exchanged 3 now without any problems. You send/email the exchange form (on the legere website} with an attached copy of your receipt. They then email you back, all mine within 24hrs. Then just print the email and send it with the reed(s) to be returned to the address provided (in Germany). They then send you the replacement. I got all 3 of my replacements within 5 days of posting the old ones off.

How do you know if you've got a dud if you've never played them before ? It may just seem like they don't agree with you(me), with cane you can tell the bad ones out of the box.

They weren't duds as such, just wrong strength. I switched to synthetics, as I can't play cane reeds anymore, but wasn't sure what strength to get so got 3 different ones. Found the one that suited me and exchanged the other 2 to that one. That was on alto and then did similar with tenor (but only tried 2 strengths)

Ivan - and I was the other one on the "agree" list. I can't remember what the process was, only that it was simple and painless. It was a couple of years ago, so not a new thing.

I have tried both but I too prefer the Signatures
