Breathing

Well lessons started and whilst I'overcome the embouchure problem a breathing problem has crept in. It seems to be psychological as its only when I think about it I seem to run out of breath.

I'm aware of breathing from the diaphram (?) and can do this but when I think about breathing I just seem to immediately just feel completely out of breath.

Is it just a matter of perceiverance (?) until I relax and forget about it or does someone have an idea how they or someone they know has overcome it?

Thanks

Took me over 18 months to begin to cope with breathing isssues, in my case occurring during lessons but not during practice.

I'd suggest relaxing, working at following your teacher's advice to solve it, and patience.

I noticed on the telly that one of the woodwind young musician of the year contestants was criticised for poor breathing. They all sounded pretty good to me - so it seems it can happen to all kinds of player.

id been playing a few years when i suddenly developed breathing problems. it was dreadful, and the more i thought about it, the worse it got.
lots of breathing exercises, learning to relax and let it become natural got me through it in the end

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
