Aha...

Perhaps the problem is not water drainage, but instead it's the water key seal

I had a poorly sealing water key on my coincidentally Bauhaus baritone... I found encrustations on the face of the water key cork... I replaced the cork (I used synthetic), and that problem went away

It's probably worth giving the pigtail bow a proper clean with a mild acid.
Dead simple to do. Prop the bari up somewhere safe, pop a teaspoon of citric acid granules into half a cup of hot water and pour it into the pigtail with a funnel (a roll of card will do). Leave it for half an hour then drain it out of the water key - then rinse the tube out a couple of times.
Keep a wet sponge and a dry cloth handy in case any of the acid spills onto the horn - as it may damage the finish if left long enough.

You can also use hot vinegar but it tends to whiff a bit.

If you add some chopped parsley, it'll neutralize the whiff. But don't use chives.

Vinegar is better on chips than in sax.
