Curare is perfectly edible unless you have lesions in your mouth that allow it to seep into your blood stream.
Otherwise how would the natives been able to eat the animals they harvested using curare?

And it is not really that terrible anyway. My experience with Curare was having it injected in the eye orbits to paralyze the extraocular muscles to suppress saccadic eye movements. After a few seconds the entire visual field turned into a silver shimmer but then a nurse walked through the room and I could see her very clearly and not only that but she also left a trail of clear images behind her. It was an "eye-opening" experience that gave me some very good clues to as to why snipers or hunters want to keep their eyes focused on a single spot to blur out everything else, which then makes any tiny motion jump out.
It is imitation of the lizard eye and I am using it regularly when I am out in the forest, literally miles away from any civilization.

I'm no expert but I thought the idea was to "look" at a point but pay attention to the peripheral vision - where there are mostly rod cells which a better at low light and motion, compared with cones which are for colour and sharper vision.

I know it "looks" a little weird but you can easily try it yourself, for example in the forest by keeping your eyes as still as possible until everything turns into some kind of silver blur. And then, every little motion will stand out as some area of sharp image in the silver background. It takes a little bit of practice but it works really well.

Rods are just highly sensitive photo receptors, the integration happens on the level of horizontal cells and below.

Thinking about Curare, maybe some powdered Bufo Toad secretion, applied to reed wetting water, will either manifest in great free jazz, Or, limit those that play too many notes that are meaningless.

Interesting idea, you might try a warmup with shrooms first.
