about reeds...

is there any section explaining basic information about reeds. I am sure begginers will have asked the questions before but i just cant find anything.
Do you have to break in a new reed? if yes how?
How long you keep a reed?
Do you have to soak it in water before you start playing?
Do you have to store it in any special way after each playing session?
What are the signs of a reed that has reached the ends of its life...?
