Let's just say I'ma better saxophonist than I am a dancer. On the rare occasion I've been forced, my fiance says I do a funny 'knee dance' thing, where I just stomp up and down like I'm Frankenstein's Monster.

I hate dancing - I feel self concious and I'd rather sit down in a corner somewhere. Funny, I have no qualms about playing sax in public and I do dance around a bit then but I can't dance without my sax. In fact, I'm very anti-social unless I am playing my sax in front of people. Weird, huh?

I learned everything I knoew about dancing many years ago to the Clash & The Stranglers and Steel Pulse. And Guess what- it doesn't work except outside the context of.... The Clash, The Stranglers and Steel Pulse. Salsa nights, Jive dance gigs- they frown on exuberant bouncing!

I reckon we've been to the same gigs nacho. It's hard to pogo to Steel Pulse (or Black Uhuru or Aswad) as the tempo is wrong, even if you bounce double-time. I usually found a kind of feet-planted-firmly swaying action worked ok

Anyone remember Edward II and the Red Hot Polkas? A very odd hybrid of Dub Reggae and morris dance band... folkies bounced on the beat, reggae heads on the off beat

Edward II (aka Edward II and the Red Hot Polkas and EII) were a UK band which played a fusion of reggae and English folk music. They went through several line-up changes but were a seven-piece for much of their career. They split up in 1999.

At various stages, members of the band included: T Carthy (bass), Glen Latouche (vocals), Gavin Sharp (sax and keyboards), and John Hart (trombone and guitar), who went on to perform together; Simon Care (melodeon), Neil Yates and Jon Moore (guitar and fiddle), who went on to form e2K; and Alton Zebby (drums).
