Hi,

Sorry for what is probably a really dumb question, but what are the wheels on the table keys and on the right hand little finger keys for?

All the best,

Chris.

Hi Chris
the "wheels" are commonly called rollers.
they are put on those keys so that the transition from one key to the other is smoother and quicker making it easier to operate.

Thanks Griff,

I was having a mental blank, I knew they weren't called wheels but I couldn't think what they were called. I thought that might be it but when tried rolling my finger between the two keys it didn't seem to work out so well for me, which made me think again as to their use, I guess a bit more playing around is in order.

Many thanks,

Chris

One of the left hand rollers on my YTS275 was jamming. It seems that the little plastic roller wasn't quite a perfect cylinder.

Five minutes, the micro screwdriver (to remove/replace the roller) and file (to gently sand it down) from a swiss army knife and it's now fine! Easy peasy!

(...and that's the full extent of the work I'm attempting solo too!)

The rollers don't do much for you conciously. But if they weren't there, or as in Franks case 'jammed', you would certianly struggle.

A bit like not realising how much you use your phlanges until yu get a paper cut in one!!!! 😛

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
