have any of you guys had experience of Keilwerth Weltklang baris? There sems to be a concensus that though Weltkland altos and tenors aren't much cop, the baris are qiute decent(?) Can anyone ocmment- I'm being tempted by one that's on sale in the Devil's Junkyard at the mo... :S

Hi Jules

I saw that one. I had a look at the pics, and one of them looks a bit odd - have a look at the fourth pic down on the right. Pad height looks all to cock, suggesting it's not quite as ready to play as the seller mantains. Also looks like the pads have no reflectors, so it might be a bit softer sounding than you were used to.

If you do get one, you'll need a mouthpiece, having sold your Runyon monster to me. What piece do you fancy?

Hm- yes, good point (as you are the guru of ebay!- Hm- our spirit guardian to guide us through the devil's junkyard!).
As far as mouthpieces go- Yanagisawas are about the nicest bari mouthpieces, in my experience- though Rousseau JDX are great option on Baris (Ok, but nothing remarkable on other sizes of horn, but great bari pieces).

I had one b4 I bought Pete's 11M Conn. It played fine up and down sounded fine but not as good as the Conn. Only criticism is that it was softish metal. it seemed easy to knock out of adjustment, but easy to get back. If you want a cheap Bari to start off with they are fine.

I played a Weltklang bari (DDR) and they are ok , but the keys produce some noise. So play loud!! Pads with brown plastic resonators are fine on these baris. I played a Dukoff D9 (metal) on the Weltklang. Today I have the same mpc but my bari is a "The Martin" -62.
