Happy Hogmany?

New years resolution is to practice more- so I was wondering if the USB microphones that you see around (e.g. Samson, Rodemaster etc) are any good for recording. I thought it would be good to see what I sound like. Any thoughts much appreciated?

Hi Bob,

Yes, straight into the PC via a USB cable- no need for midi or mixing decks.... I think podcasters use them alot but I was wondering if it would be a intermediate so;ution to check on my playing. I understand that background noise can be an issue especially on a Mac?

Cheere,

I have 3 mics including an SM 57 which plug straight into the mic socket and then record into my software of choice.

or I record onto the Zoom H4 ( see other thread in this section) and download the files.

Both methods give excellent results for me.

I'm not sure how a a USB mic would be better.

I have seen a record deck with USB output. Now that is a cool idea. I assume you don't need a separate pre-amp.

Does anyone have one, used one, have any comments/observations.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
