Don't know if The West Cornwal Pasty Co. was behind this but I went for a restorative pasty on Paddington station this morning and they had a big promotion going on at their outlet - staff wearing cardboard pirate hats, and entry into a free competition if you did indeed, speak to the staff in piratese.

So I said "Ah'll 'ave one a yer finest medium traditional pasties me 'artie" to the young lad behind the counter.

He replied "so sorry senor, no comprende, I from Barcelona"....

Talk Like a Pirate Day was set up years ago by two American mates looking for something funny and unusual to do and is popular with various groups on the 'net. September 19th was chosen as it is a divorced wife's birthday. An annual revenge.
