It came at last, my new Steve Goodson silverplate curved sop all the way from the USA.This curvy sop to me along with the rampone sop is the best looking sop there is,gleaming, load's of engraveing with the SG thumb rest which work's wonder's,no pearl's just thick metal touch's which feel great & a big sweet sound, the note's really pop out, tuning is spot on & ya can really push air into it & it keep's going.Really heavy sax, built like a tank.Happy with my new toy, what's next on my never ending list???? >.<

Hi David,

It certainly looks striking in all the photos I have seen on the internet - I love that silver finish and the metal instead of pearls looks great.

What mouthpiece are you playing with it and can you compare the sound with the Yanagisawa curvies (I've got an SC991) ?

Where did you buy it from in the US and did you end up paying import duty to get it into the UK ? Some saxes and things I have bought from outside the EU have been stopped for duty and others have got straight through !

Steve Goodson has got a strange reputation on SOTW, with some people very positive and others very critical. But the proof of the pudding is in the blowing !

Yea it's 1 sexy looking curvy sop, nice & heavy.Ergo's are the best i have felt on a sop, easy.I got mine from Noteworthy Musical ,a ebay shop that sell's the Goodson line, they wanted $900.00 or best offer & $79.00 shipping so i said $700.00 & $79.00 ,so they dropped $200 which total was ?397.00 but i got the custom's charge of ?90.00 on the way back, but still a great deal,a used 1 at the saxophonefactory is ?700.00 or a new 1 is ?1100.00,i have mailed the saxfactory on a few time's & never had a reply?Noteworthy in San Antonio were great & the sax is lush.Sound is very much like a Yani sop,ya can realy push air into it & them D's can realy pop, very sweet, lush sound,no shrill at all.well happy 😉

this baby is for keep's for a while'had my eye on 1 for age's & she let me have 1,i post some photo's in the next few day's for ya to drool over it,te he. >:)

I should be on there payroll!!!it come's in a great wood ;black leatheret case, sturdy with lot's of padding inside,it's a great price for the sax ,a new 1 here in the uk is ?1100.00 i think.Mine need's set up off the long trip across. When you open the case you will go wow, look's a zillion $'s, you must of rushed off & mailed Jim straight away. They sent i it really fast to the uk but custom's here held onto it for a 10 day's!!!! i like the look of the Goodson model tenor aswell, have ya seen all the sax line being tryed out with Derek Nash & Goodson on Youtube, just type in his name, all the info on there.hope it come's soon & enjoy ya little silver baby. 😉
